Room 407, Friday Evening

No candles, no burgers, nothing that Merlin had tried before for romance was happening tonight. That ended badly the last time to he was switching it up.

With cookies.

He even managed to get a bit of a variety pack so Francine could pick and chose what she liked best.

It was the culinary equivalent to Barry White.

"I know." He'd done it at least once in the time she'd known him. Maybe more! "But it's fun yanking your chain."

"I don't know if I ought to share the cookies now."

"...You have cookies?" That was the voice of Utter Sudden Seriousness.

"I do," Merlin replied, holding up the bag.

"You even called them cookies instead of biscuits!" Yes, she was impressed by this. It's the little things.

"Well." Merlin looked a bit flustered. "That's what you all call them."

Even though they were clearly biscuits.

And Francine thought the him-ness of that was beyond adorable. "I like that you're terminally English. You're allowed to say biscuits. I just thought it was sweet that you tried the other way."

"Fine, fine. Would you like one?" He was all tempting with that bag.

"Just one?"

"That would depend on if you'll be nice about it," Merlin replied, grabbing what looked like a chocolate chip one for himself.

Francine clasped a hand over her heart. "I'm always nice! ...But especially when cookies are involved."

"Then you may have one and we shall see about it from there."

He was being magnanimous, thank you.

And she was doing very well at not giggling, thank you! Francine chose an oatmeal one, and very, very politely said, "Thank you. I will treasure it always."

You know, for the next 30 seconds.

"A token of my affection?"

"Mmmphhmpmpph!"

Swallow, Francine.

Not dirty.

"Well." She looked down at her t-shirt. "I guess I am wearing it. Sort of." A few crumbs worth.

Merlin rolled his eyes and reached over automatically to brush the crumbs off. "Be still my heart."

Which was, in their own Very Special way, kind of sweetly romantic, and made Francine grin. "You're even cleaning me now?"

"It's--" What did with Arthur without a second thought. "--you had crumbs!"

She gave him a smile. "I wasn't complaining."

"Oh." He could keep that up then. "There ought to be rules for this, you know."

Francine oh so sneakily reached for another cookie. "Rules for what?"

Don't think he didn't see that!

"How I may act... now." Since there was now sex.

"...Oh." Francine pushed past the instinctive head-ducking moment to actually think about it. "There's probably a book. But we kind of suck at following those, have you noticed?"

"We... managed?" Merlin said a bit sheepishly. "With a bit of help from the island."

If Francine ever met anybody who happened to speak Island, she might ask them to pass along a message for her regarding that sort of Help.

Though in this case, she was grateful for it. "I think we more than managed."
