Room 407, Friday Evening

No candles, no burgers, nothing that Merlin had tried before for romance was happening tonight. That ended badly the last time to he was switching it up.

With cookies.

He even managed to get a bit of a variety pack so Francine could pick and chose what she liked best.

It was the culinary equivalent to Barry White.

Francine oh so sneakily reached for another cookie. "Rules for what?"

"How I may act... now." Since there was now sex.

"...Oh." Francine pushed past the instinctive head-ducking moment to actually think about it. "There's probably a book. But we kind of suck at following those, have you noticed?"

"We... managed?" Merlin said a bit sheepishly. "With a bit of help from the island."

If Francine ever met anybody who happened to speak Island, she might ask them to pass along a message for her regarding that sort of Help.

Though in this case, she was grateful for it. "I think we more than managed."

"If you're looking for a comparison, you're out of luck," Francine reminded him. "But I liked it. Um. A lot."

Now they just needed to find out if it was just as good when normal.

"As long as you liked it..."

A more cynical girl would have suspected that a boy's concern for that factor was purely motivated in whether it would ever happen again, but Francine was not that girl. Luckily for her, Merlin was not that boy.

"As long as nothing glows again."

Francine blinked twice and then burst into laughter. Because really.

"It was odd!" He insisted, laughing as well.

"It did say glow-in-the-dark on the package," she pointed out.

"You picked it."

"You wanted grape." She was so going to regret not thinking that statement through.

"Which did not glow!"

Give them both a moment.

"That's not what--" Yes, that would be about when the good sense reared its head and she realized if she went any further she'd have to explain what the grape was for.

Like Merlin could not say something. "Not what?"

"Not what matters?" she tried. "I mean, it worked, that's the point, right?"

"...I suppose."

Great, now he was giving her the Face. Francine sighed. "I'll explain what the grape ones are for some time when ..." Um. That was one of those sentences that went rushing headlong towards a cliff and really hoped a bridge appeared out of thin air. "...it is not now?"

"...alright. Are you well?" Was it the cookies? It probably was.

"I'm....fine?" Francine frowned a little because that was both inaccurate and way too familiar from somebody else protesting the same thing. "Are we supposed to be not-flaily now?" she asked, like he knew the rules. "I think we're supposed to be not-flaily now, but that's kind of still a work in progress."

"I don't feel... flaily. Do you?"

"Hmm. Lemme check." Francine waved her hand around a bit. Nowhere near his face. "I... think maybe mostly no?" Uncertain and unsettled, for any number of reasons, but not flaily. "I'm not gonna break your nose again, anyway."
