No candles, no burgers, nothing that Merlin had tried before for romance was happening tonight. That ended badly the last time to he was switching it up.

With cookies.

He even managed to get a bit of a variety pack so Francine could pick and chose what she liked best.

It was the culinary equivalent to Barry White.

Merlin scooted a bit closer, shifting one hand back to attempt the mysteries of the bra once more.

Even more mysterious than before, since this one wasn't a front closure. Francine had learned her lesson there. She leaned forward a bit to give him better access to it, though it did rather... yeah.

You'd think that having sex once would cure someone of the 'omgbreasts' each time they were pressed against him, but nooo. Merlin was stuck trying very hard not to have his hands fumble with the clasp and kiss her at the same time.

"There's, um. Three of them," Francine said, when he actually succeeded at the first one.

Merlin scooted closers so he could look over her shoulder at the task at hand.

Two down now! The third one was proving to be a tricky bastard.

She could, of course, just do it herself, but he seemed so dedicated to the project... "Heavy duty, for extra squirrel-flashing protection."

Merlin beamed, pulling back and looking more than just a bit proud of himself. "Is that why you wear it?"

"...Seriously?"

"Well..." Backtrack. Backtrack! "Of course not."

"Don't girls wear, like... corsets or iron maidens or something like that in your time?"

"...I believe iron maidens are torture devices."

Francine looked down, while sliding one strap off her arm. "Well..."

Merlin's eyes followed that strap with great interest. Wait... they were still talking? "Hmm?"

Testing her newly realized power to deliberately distract a boy by playing with the other bra strap was probably some kind of feminine rite of passage and not twisted and vaguely unhealthy, right? Right?

"We wear them so they don't bounce all over the place, Merlin."

It was a cruel, cruel--Merlin was a little bit too busy to notice so she could do this forever at this rate.

"That wouldn't be too terrible."

Snort. "Sure, for you. I like not having a back-ache every day."

"Backache?" Okay, conversation during this was not working for him. It was very distracting.

Francine sighed and uttered the words that had probably kept the Great Mystery of The Ages going. "It's a girl thing. Don't worry about it." And slipped off the bra completely.

And once again, those feminine mysteries took hold. Or something.

"I think that may be for the best," He admitted, leaning in to kiss her again.

Someday she'd have to ask him what it was with guys and boobs, when he wasn't staring at a pair of them and thus unable to give any kind of coherent answer, Francine thought.

And then badly suppressed a laugh into the kiss at the idea that she'd ever ask.

"What are you laughing at?" Merlin asked, smiling a bit himself because... things bounced when she laughed.

Oh, shut up.

"Nothing. Just I really, really have no doubts that you like girls, Merlin," she said. Before she thought the associations of that statement through.

"Well, I like you," He corrected without realizing, running his hands up her sides again.

She ducked her head to press a kiss to his jawline. "Same thing, isn't it?" Giiiiiive her time.

"Yes." Give hiiiim time too. "I believe it is," Merlin replied with a faint grin, moving one hand up to cup her breast.
