Could she do that lap thing without cutting off circulation or inducing an old-fashioned flail-fest? Well, she could try. At least as far as swinging one leg across his. Without serious damage to anyone's extremities, even!

They certainly were trying--"Um!" Merlin let go of her chest to put both hands on her back so that she wouldn't fall backwards off the bed.

Oh...kay. Possibly necessary, yes. Somehow the lap thing became more of a straddle than a ladylike side....thingy. Francine lacked terminology for this, shut up.

On the other hands, the ones around her back, it did leave Merlin in an even better position for staring.

A much better position for it. Or possibly being smothered. Either or.

"This is... new."

"Bad new?" she asked a little nervously. She had to check these things.

"Good new," He confirmed. Because where she was sitting really didn't give her enough to conform that.

Really.

Shush, sometimes her mouth was faster than her brain. Or observational skills. "Good." She leaned her head down to kiss him, resting her hands on his shoulders.

Merlin wasn't about to object! God no.

He kissed her back, keeping one hand on her lower back and the other one moving up to rub her neck. None of that moving through her hair thing. That only ended in tangles and him losing his hand.

Francine's hair would not eat his hand, thank you very much. It might chomp a little, but he'd get it back. Eventually.

There was something to this position, Francine decided, even if it was kind of a balancing act. The shoulder-gripping was kind of especially nice, because scrawny or no, she liked holding on to them.

He liked his hand as it was, thank you!

And the position... certainly did lovely things for him when she shifted in any way. Even if the grip on his shoulders was starting to hurt just a bit. He could easily ignore it to deepen the kiss and attempt to move backwards with her not having to move away.

So there was less chance of dumping poor Francine on the floor.

Yes, scooting backwards with a top-heavy girl on his lap was bound to end well.

Really.

At least when she fell it was forward, and not onto the floor?

Well.

At least Merlin was going to die how he lived. Covered in breasts.

"Francine?"

He may have thought that's what he said, but it was a little muffled. "Huh?"

Merlin tapped her on the side, wondering if this was either a wonderful thing or something to be concerned about.

...Possibly both.

"OH!" She sat up a bit. "Sorry."

Ah, breathing again!

"Not a problem," He wheezed. "I'll warn you next time I move."

"It might be safer." Then again, this wasn't a bad position either. Though certainly one she'd never have thought of on her own. Francine grinned and leaned down to kiss him again, this time with a nice sturdy bed to brace her hands on.

It managed to put Francine in a position to be in charge of what they did which was... new. And interesting.

Kissing her back, Merlin kept his hands on her hips, moving them on down to try and find the bottom of the skirt. Mostly just getting lost in the flowy fabric.

At least the skirt wasn't going to bite him. Or even really care if he snagged his hands in it. Francine shifted her hips a little under his hands, part reaction to the touch and part to give him better access. To... whatever it was he wanted access to.

Francine in charge is new and interesting in theory, but she was still Francine.

It took a few moments of work, but he managed to find skin beneath the fabric of her skirt. Running his hands up her thighs slowly, Merlin grinned into the kiss.

Look, they did this all without that damned book or the island playing with them!

And Francine was beyond impressed at that, seriously. Still seconds away at any time from stepping back at shrieking WHAT ARE YOU DOING? at herself (or worrying that Merlin would), but incredibly proud that neither of them had.

She didn't want to slip and smother him again, but she did try leaning on just the one arm, so she could run her other hand across his shoulder and down to his chest.

His oh so broad chest. But it certainly felt nice anyway.

Merlin inhaled sharply, shifting his hips up off the bed a few times to find something comfortable. Or maybe just because he did, in fact, remember how lovely it had been for the point five seconds they had been in a position like this last time.

Francine shifted her oh so narrow hips too. Not that the position had quite the same immediate positive effect on her, but give her a bit. Slow was a thing with Francine.

They did slow perfectly fine before now. Why should this time be any different? Well, other than the fact that they had finally managed it once before.

Merlin, sadly, was not so slow to find this a very nice place to be if the way he moved up to meet her and the pleased little 'guh' noise was anythign to go by.

Francine should spend a little less time being impressed with her ability to elicit that and a little more time thinking about how this could far too easily lead down a prom night path if she wasn't careful.

She would, really. In a minute.
