Room 325, Saturday Morning

Merlin didn't remember last year with the children. Well, he did, but he was trying very hard to repress it, so...

He didn't remember.

So, he clinging to Arthur not unlike some sort of aquatic creature. Because it was comfortable for him at least.

"Oh, bother," Rhys groaned, flopping back against Merlin's bepillowed chest like he belonged there.

"...hello." Merlin patted him on the head. "Um. Maybe you ought to allow us to get dress, yeah?"

There was a bit more annoyed groaning. "Fine," he said, slipping back off the bed. "But I'm coming back in five minutes!"

"Oh, please do," Arthur said, a little sarcastically.

But not too sarcastically. His 'I don't want to be my father' senses were kicking in.

As soon as the child was out of the room, Merlin was busy flailing off the bed with a thump. "Why does this keep happening?!"

"The island hates us?" Arthur said, dryly, and sat up. He rubbed at his face in annoyance. "I had been looking forward to a decent weekend," he muttered.

He glanced over the edge off the bed. "Although I'm not sure you rattling your brains any further is going to be much of an improvement."

He refused to think about the child's origins. Point-blank refused.

"I'm fine!" Really. "He's going to barge back in, isn't he?"

"Most likely," Arthur muttered, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed.

So he could pick up his trousers and put them on. "Try to remain calm."

Merlin glared, pulling himself up to start dressing. Odd how some of his normal clothing ended up here. Just in case.

"Well, he's certainly yours."

"Oh, please," Arthur muttered, yanking on a nightshirt because he certainly wasn't set on leaving just yet. "He was all over you."

Arthur would've never let himself be caught snuggling a parent.

"Blond hair? Attitude?" Merlin replied. "Sound a bit familiar?"

"You're the one he's calling 'Da'," Arthur pointed out, as he tried to figure out whether or not he could be bothered with anything else in terms of clothes.

Merlin shot him a look before offering over a better shirt. "He's a bit older than the last one, though."

Arthur rolled his eyes and took the shirt. "I was more well-behaved than that at his age."

Liiiar pants on fire. Although Uther would've never allowed him to leap on the man's bed or anything.

"...he's well behaved." Merlin, stop being protective of a fake child.

"If you call that--" Arthur began.

The door opened again, cracking slightly more respectfully.

Then it shut.

The short blond kid promptly padded up to Merlin to attach himself to the man's leg.

In the background, Arthur muttered something about boys not being supposed to be huggy.

Which earned him another sharp look. "Um. So, what's your name then?"

"Rhys," Rhys provided. "Are you sure you haven't fallen again? And I really didn't do anything to Ceridwyn, I swear."

Girls just started crying when he came near, sometimes! Honest. He gave Merlin's leg and waist a good quick clinging to.

"Well, Rhys," Merlin said with his best smile. "How old are your parents?"

"More than thirty," Rhys supplied, giving Merlin a massively weirded-out look.

His head turned away from Merlin's hip so he could squint at Arthur as well. "Finally shaved, then?"

Arthur stared back at him. "What?"

Arthur with a beard was a bit funny, to be perfectly honest. "Do we look that old?"

Rhys's brow furrowed as he thought. "D'you zap us to the past again?"

"No," Arthur said, interrupting, "I want to know more about this beard thing."
